For the exhibition, Bendzulla has generated a series of prints on hand-made paper that fuse image production technology with an ultra-dry medium specificity. Here, the materials ("artisanal" paper, ink, computer), methods of production (scanning, Photoshopping, printing), and the artistic gesture become the focus of scrutiny and subtle intervention. Some works refer directly to the paper itself and its physical qualities. For instance, in "Untitled (Paper Icon)," Bendzulla enlarges a document icon, so that the generic computerized paper graphic becomes a frame for the paper it is printed on. In "Untitled (Screen Shot)," the pixel structure of the digital image refers directly to the raw structure of the hand-made paper it is printed on.
